Eddie Marino is a factory worker from New York. He has a wife named Vickie and a son named Scott. Eddie's friend and colleague Nick, along with several other co-workers, have formed a vigilante group because Nick and his gang are fed up with the pimps, gangs and drug dealers who continue to take over the neighborhoods. . . Nick and his group are also fed up with the police's continued failure to protect victims. One evening, Eddie comes home from work and calls 911. He finds that Vickie has been stabbed and Scott has been shot.Frederico "Rico" Melendez, leader of a Puerto Rican street gang, is arrested for stabbing Vickie and killing Scott. Assistant District Attorney Mary Fletcher plans to keep Rico in prison as long as possible since New York does not have the death penalty. Nick tries to convince Eddie to join the vigilante group, but Eddie rejects Nick, preferring to let Rico handle the court. Nick explains that he has no trust in the police or the justice system. No charges were filed in the case against Rico.The corrupt judge Sinclair gives Rico a two-year suspended sentence. Eddie becomes enraged and tries to strangle Judge Sinclair, who sentences Eddie to 30 days in prison. It was Rico's right-hand man, Prago, who fired the shot that killed Scott, and Rico stabbed Vickie. Prago also paid Judge Sinclair to release Rico. In prison, Eddie befriends an inmate named Rake.Once Eddie is released from prison, he changes his mind about Nick's vigilante nature. Eddie joins the group so he can pursue Rico, Prago and Referee Sinclair.
