In a dusty, sparsely populated California resort town, a naive and impressionable homeless Southerner begins life as a nursing assistant in anursing home. There Pinky finds her role model in the form of the "thoroughly modern" nurse Millie Lammoreaux, a misguided, demanding and desperatefuture fan of Cosmopolitan and Women's Day magazines. As Millie welcomes Pinky into her home at the Purple Sage singles resort, the cult hero Pinky evolves into something far stranger and more sinister than anyone incould have expected.
