After Jakes is released from prison, the brothers reunite and visit the orphanage where they grew up, but find that the orphanage is threatened with closure due to non-payment of taxes. With the help of revival preacher James Brown, the Blues Brothers, under divine inspiration, raise the $5,000 the orphanage needs to continue operations. To complete God's mission, they must get their old band back together and raise money by performing at various concerts across the city. Team's wild adventures include dodging evil neo-Nazis, gambling in a loud redneck bar, and narrowly escaping crazy Carrie Fisher as Jakes' ex-girlfriend, who wants him dead. Eventually, the boys must go to a concert in the Palace Hotel ballroom and deliver $5,000 to the county assessor's office, leading to one of the wildest and most hysterical car chases in film history.
