Max Rockatansky, a Force Major patrolman on an upcoming extremelydifficult highway patrol, kills Night Rider, a fleeing cop-killer, during a high-speed highway chase. The Night Rider's Companions, a motorcycle gang led by Toecutter, unleash violence on a small town in search of revenge. When Max's partner Jim Goose confronts her, he is burned alive in the vehicle. The gang then attacks Max.
