When the schooner is wrecked near Whitby, Count Dracula is the only survivor,having traveled from Transylvania with large tracts of land to live at Carfax Abbey. She becomes friends with Dr. Seward, who runs the local mentalasylum, her daughter Lucy, her friend Mina and Jonathan Harker, Lucy's lawyer friend. But almost immediately, Mina dies from blood loss, and that may not be a coincidence.
