Although it wasn't Jackie Chan's first film, The Drunken Master was the film that cemented his stardom. Jackie plays the rebellious son of a kung fu master. To teach Jackie the value of discipline, her father trains her with another master named So Hi, who has a unique "drunken" fighting style. Jackie resents So Hi's strict training and runs away, only to be brutally humiliated by a killer named Thunderleg. Punished, Jackie becomes a devoted student of “So Hi.”He soon realizes that he will need everything he has learned when Thunderleg is hired to kill his father. In Drunken Master, Jackie is just beginning to cultivate her mix of action and comedy; Here the focus is on kung fu stunts. But kung fu is great. The final fight is breathtaking, choreographed by director Yuen Woo-ping (now known as the fight choreographer of The Matrix).
