As a devoted wife and mother, Joanna decides to leave advertising executive Ted and also leave him responsible for caring for her young son Billy. The situation turns out to be particularly difficult because the workaholic father has never really cared for the boy and barely knows him. It's difficult at first, but as they both adjust to life without Joanna and Ted, their attention spansimprove and father and son eventually bond. However, as Ted spends more time with his son and less on work, his son suffers, and Ted's subsequent dismissal coincides with the return of Joanna, who wants her son back.
