Based on the autobiography of William Hayes, "MIDNIGHT EXPRESS" tells the shocking story of a young American tourist who was arrested by Turkishauthorities and sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempting to smuggle two kilos of hashish out of the country. Billy, suffering from the harsh realities of Turkey's penal system, sees a glimmer of hope when his father arrives from the United States to free his son. But when this attempt fails and the harshprison environment becomes unbearable, Billy decides on the only possible solution: escape from prison and travel aboard the “Midnight Express” –prison slang for escape – to freedom.
