Richard Collier is a playwright living in the late 1970s who is approached by a strange older woman. With love and respect, he puts a gold pocket watch into Richard's hand and says four mysterious words: "Come back to me," then disappears into the shadows.Eight years after this strange meeting, Richard goes to an old luxurious country hotel. There he sees a photo of the charming young Elise McKenna, a talented actress who reached her peak around 1910 and 1912. In a flash of recognition, Richard realizes that it is the same woman, now deceased, who gave the gold watch eight years ago. .Encouraged by love and obsession, Richard attempts to overcome mind-induced time travel to reach Elise in 1912 and thus regain the love that had eluded him but was strong enough to last for decades.
