Warren Beatty's award-winning epic combines drama and interviews with the era's leading social radicals. “Reds” tells the love story between activists Louise Bryant and John Reed. The plot of the love story between the twojournalists, set in the turbulent scenario of the early 20th century, is interrupted by the outbreak of the First World War and the Bolshevik Revolution. Louise's deployment to France at the start of the war ends their love story. John Reed's subsequent trip to Russia inand his involvement in the Communist Party reinvigorated their relationship.When Louise arrives in Petrograd, she is overwhelmed by the euphoria of the revolution. Ultimately, however, Reed becomes disillusioned with communism as he sees his words and intentions amplified and controlled by the growing Soviet propaganda machine.
