When theatrical genius Michael Dorsey is blacklisted by almost every producer in the theater industry, he decides to defy the entertainment industry by dressing up as an older woman and auditioning for a daytime soap opera. Dorsey shows up to his audition dressed and made up. Calling herself Dorothy Michaels, she passes a fantastic audition and is immediately hired by the show's director. Dorsey has become an overnight sensation among fans of the series, but as his secret career atgrows, his relationship with his girlfriend suffers.
