Two American friends, David Kessler and Jack Goodman, are attacked by a wolf while crossing the English moors. David wakes up in the hospital to find that Jack has been killed. He is soon plagued by nightmares in which Jack apparently tells him that they were attacked by a werewolf and that he, David, was bitten and will also become a werewolf unless he commits suicide before the full moon.
