An old man and his servant were found with their throats slit in a beautiful 18th-century hall in Austria. He had inflicted the wound himself, and that man was the little-known composer Salieri, the current enemy of the famous but now slandered composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Later, Salieri leaves his cell in an asylum and tells the priest the story of his collaboration with Mozart, confessing that he actually killed the talented but troubled young man.
