A young British aristocrat is separated from his family at the start of World War II as the Japanese army invades the British areas of China. Reduced to living on the streets and fighting for food, the young man was eventually interned in a Japanese prisoner of war camp for British civilians. Here admiration grew rapidly for the captured American pilots and the Japanese themselves. When the war ends, the boy, cut off from everything he knew, tries to find his parents.
