By doing so, he is able to see the world as it really is: people are bombarded by the media and the government with messages like "You are asleep", "No imagination", "Submit to "authority". It is scary that 'he is able to see that some apparently normal people are really terrible aliens responsible for the great campaign to subjugate humans.
