In the 1930s, a lower-middle-class family consisting of a father, mother, and two small children had just moved to a suburb of Tokyo. Two brothers have difficulty getting used to the neighborhood children, but feel protected by their beloved father and become gang leaders. Her father is an employee and his manager lives in the same neighborhood. He seeks a professional promotionby behaving as a submissive courtier towards his boss. One night, theboys discover his father acting stupid at work to please his boss and they lose all respect for their father and ask him why he can't become the company'smanager.
