Matt Calder, who lives on a remote farm with his young son Mark, helps two unexpected guests who lose control of their raft on a nearby river. Harry Weston is a professional gambler and rushes to the nearest town to claim a mining claim he won in a poker game. With him is his beautiful wife Kay, a former salon waitress. When Calder doesn't give Weston his only weapon and his horse, he simply takes them and leaves his wife behind. Unable to defend themselves against a likely Indian attack in, Calder, his son, and Kay Weston embark on a perilous journey downstream on the raft Weston left behind.
