Ben Allison and his brother Clint head to Montana to look for gold. They meet wealthy businessman Nathan Stark, who convinces them to go on a cattle drive with him to Montana. During a trip to Texas, they encounter a group of settlers who are attacked by Indians. Ben rescues Nella Turner, who joins them on a cattle drive. Ben and Nella are in a relationship, but Nella thinks therelationship is undemanding.Arriving in Fort Worth, Nella meets Stark, whose desire to make as much money as possible aligns with Nella's ambitions.
