As the 1972 election approached, Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward reported what appeared to be a minor break-in at Democratic Party headquarters. He was surprised that respected lawyers had already taken over the defense, and the discovery of the names and addresses of the organizers of the Republican funds among the defendants made him even more suspicious. The Post editor is willing to pick up the story and attribute it to Woodward and Carl Bernstein. They find that inthe trail leads ever higher to the Republican Party and eventually to the White House itself.
