Convinced that the Russians have infiltrated America's "lifeblood," the mad Ripper delivers the launch code for the 843rd Bomb Wing to attack Russia, unleashing a series of darkly comic vignettes featuring horny soldiers, mad generals, Russian spies, drunken previews, and Vending machines. Themachine battles soda gas, board fights and the top-secret Russian doomsdaymachine. The film focuses on three main locations: one of the B-52 bombers, where a group of loyalists know that thes will soon start World War III; Burpelson Air Force Base, where Group Captain Lionel Mandrake tries to convince everyone that the Ripper has gone mad and that the bombing must be stopped; and the war room where President Merkin Muffley (the salesman again) tries to make peace with the Russians.
