“The Sound of Music” is based on the true story of the Trapp family of singers. Maria is a young nun from an Austrian monastery who regularly skips morning prayers because she likes to go to the mountains and sing the theme song. Mother Superior decides that Maria must learn something about the real world before she can take her vows and sends her as governess to the children of the widowed Captain von Trapp. When Maria arrives at the Trapp house, she finds that her new boss is cold and distant and that her seven children are virtual automatons, at least when the captain is around.
