Colonel von Waldheim wants to get modern paintings that the Nazis described as “degenerate” from Paris before the Allies liberate Paris. He manages to convince his superiors to give him a move. Labiche, a French railway official, is asked by the museum management to stop this train, but he does not want to risk the lives of his compatriots in the name of art. However, when his old friend Boule is shot by the Germans and accuses him ofsabotaging the locomotive, he begins to act against the Germans and tries to delay the train's departure until the Allies arrive.
