Teenager Nancy Thompson finds herself and a group of friends having a similar dream, in which they are followed by a wounded figure wearing gloves. However, when the figure begins to tear them apart in their dreams, the group wakes up to find that it is literally cutting and burning their skin. Later, Nancy's friend Tina is murdered in a waking world following a violent separation from a figure in her dreams. Nancyis hunted by a person and discovers that this person is Freddy Krueger, a man with a dark past.
