Faced with an uncertain future, Witek, a young Polish medical student, decides to suspend his studies. With his head full of promising and disturbing signs of his new adult life, Witek rushes to catch the last train to Warsaw. But as he descends the platform, Blind Chance turns into three back-to-back scenarios in which Witek catching or missing his train creates three completely different futures. Whether an idealistic member of the Communist Party, an ambivalent dissident, or a healing and devoted husband, the young Pole's destiny is shaped by the disaffected youth that threatens to thwart him, the troubled present which would engulf him, and, according to Kieslowski's words, "the powers that interfere with our destiny".
Through three complex lives, the actor Boguslaw Linda plays Witek with a natural magnetism remarkable even for a Kieslowski film. The commitment and vision of the actor and the director allowed to create three completely different pictures, each as convincing as the other. Formed on the eve of communist repression in Poland, Blind Chance was suppressed for nearly seven years.
