After Omni Consumer Products (OCP) announced that it had purchased the Detroit Police Department, the department decided to go on strike. Alex Murphy transfers from Metro South to West. He and his partner, Anne Lewis, track down a group of criminals led by Clarence Boddicker. Unfortunately, Murphy was killed by Clarence's gang. Bob Morton, one of the OCP employees, transforms Murphy's corpse into Robocop, to compete with the ED-209 of another employee, Dick Jones. Robocop's tests are conclusive. Unfortunately, Robocop regains his memories (when he was Alex Murphy) and now knows that he must find and stop Clarence Boddicker. It turns out that Clarence works for Dick Jones, Bob Morton's competitor. Robocop now has to stop Clarence and Dick Jones.
