Two young actors, Withnail and Marwood, share a deserted flat in London and search in vain for work, without much success. Withnail convinces his rich and eccentric uncle Monty to leave his country house for a few weeks; but the countryside seems to him as cold and unpleasant as the city. Uncle Monty joins them and immediately sets about seducing Marwood. Withnail admits that he told his uncle that Marwood was gay (he's not) because otherwise they had no chance of getting him.The house
