Henry VIII, King of England, rejects a woman, Catherine of Aragon, who had no male heir, in favor of a beautiful young woman, Anne Boleyn, whose thousand-day reign as Queen of England ends with her head on a tree stump. Henry marries Anne and she soon bears him a son. The daughter Elizabeth is a bitter disappointment for Henry, who desperately wants an heir. Anne promises Henry a child “next time,” but Henry has doubts. Soon after, rumors surface that King's gaze has already wandered.A certain Jane Seymour is out for a while. The Queen orders her dismissal, but if Anne brings Jane back to court, the King promises to sign the Act of Succession to ensure Elizabeth becomes Queen.
