An entomologist searching for insects in the desert accepts the locals' offer to stay with a widow whose house is at the bottom of a sandbox and can only bereached by a rope ladder. But day after day the ladder disappears and there is no longer any way to climb the steep sand walls. Then a strange relationship begins.
