In this tongue-in-cheek film inspired by Poe's poetry, Dr. Craven is the son of a great (now deceased) wizard who once had great skill in the profession but has since given up on it. One evening, a cowardly and stupid wizard named Bedlo asks Craven for help: the evil Scarabus has turned him into a raven and needs someone to turn him. He also tells the reluctant wizard that Craven's wife Lenore, whom he loved dearly and thought dead, lives with the despised Scarabus.
