In Japan around the 18th century, nine young men decided to complain to the local superintendent about corruption within their clan. However, the group is betrayed, but the ronin Sanjûrô Tsubaki saves them from the overseer's men. The rebel clan leader's uncle, Chamberlain Mutsuta, is kidnapped and his wife and daughter are arrested and imprisoned by the superintendent, whoattempts to force Mutsuta to write a false confession claiming he is corrupt.Sanjûrô helps the group save the Chamberlain and his family.
