Alfred Kralik is the shy manager of the Matuschek and Company store inBudapest. Every morning the employees wait together for their boss Hugo Matuschek to arrive. After the newspaper announcement, Alfred beganexchanging letters with his friend. Against Alfred's wishes, Matuschek hires Klara Novak. The two constantly argue at work, without knowing that Klara is Alfred's secret pen pal.
